Indspire is an Indigenous national charity that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people for the long-term benefit of these individuals, their families and communities, and Canada. With the support of its funding partners, Indspire provides financial awards, delivers programs, and shares resources so that First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students will achieve their highest potential. In 2022-2023, Indspire provided more than $27 million through 7,522 bursaries and scholarships to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students.

Programs we support:

• Hudson’s Bay Foundation supports Indspire’s National Gathering, which brings together educators who work with Indigenous students.
• Hudson’s Bay Foundation supports Rivers to Success: Mentoring Indigenous Students program which provides a supportive learning journey for First Nations, Inuit, and Metis students.
• Hudson’s Bay Foundation supports Indspires Building Brighter Futures: Scholarships, Bursaries & Awards program.
• Hudson’s Bay Foundation supports Soaring, Indispire’s Indigenous Youth Empowerment Gathering.

Inspired by Chanie’s Story and Gord’s call to action to build a better Canada, the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF) aims to build cultural understanding and create a path toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. DWF provides education on the true history of Canada and the lasting impact of residential schools through their programming, partnerships, campaigns, and events that build awareness, education, and connections between all people in Canada. As a DWF Legacy Spaces partner, Hudson’s Bay Foundation has funded the creation the creation of two Legacy Spaces at Hudson’s Bay head offices, where employee and visitors will learn about and discuss the truth of residential schools and our collective journey towards reconciliation.

Programs we support:

• Hudson’s Bay Foundation is a proud supporter of DWF and worked closely with them in launching Oshki Wupoowane | The Blanket Fund.
• In 2021, the Foundation partnered with DWF to create two Legacy Spaces at Hudson’s Bay headquarters.
• Hudson’s Bay associates participated in the Walk for Wenjack, a nationwide event commemorating the legacy of Chanie Wenjack.

The Future Generations Foundation provides resourcing to create meaningful opportunities that improve the quality of life for First Nations and Métis people. They are committed to helping First Nations, Métis people and communities address the impacts of the Indian residential school’s system, and to support healing. They aspire for today’s youth and future generations to be grounded in language, culture, and a way of life that fosters a strong identity and resiliency.

CEE’s training programs are empowering the next generation of young Black professionals to access high-skill, high-demand careers, and overcome systemic barriers with confidence. The partnership with Hudson’s Bay Foundation fuels training programs for a new cohort of youth participants entering the growing fields of Cybersecurity and Styling.

Programs we support:

• Hudson’s Bay Foundation supports CEE’s efforts in ensuring Black youth recieve the employment opportunities they deserve. Particularly through CEE’s Cybersecurity Program and its Styling Cohorts program.

Nia Centre is a Toronto-based organization connecting Black artists of all experience levels and backgrounds to mentorship and opportunities to hone their artistic practices. All their work is rooted in the conviction that Black artistic traditions can nurture community and foster healthy identities for generations to come. Nia Centre’s professional development program, Left of Centre, is connecting thousands of emerging artists to funding, seminars and consulting that help foster transferable skills and career mobility. With Hudson’s Bay Foundation’s support, Nia Centre is relaunching their micro-grants program to help participants access creative equipment and software, critical to their professional and artistic development.

• Hudson’s Bay Foundation proudly supports Nia Centre’s continued efforts in supporting Black artists, particularly through Nia Centre’s Left of Centre artist incubation project.

MLSE Foundation is built on the belief that sport has the power to change the world. Fighting to provide every youth with an equitable chance to play, MLSE Foundation knows opportunities in sport help build skills and confidence both on and off the playing field, making for better academic and life outcomes. With Hudson’s Bay Foundation’s support, MLSE Foundation is invested in programs, spaces and organizations, such as MLSE LaunchPad, to increase capacity and address the systemic barriers to access and participation.

• Hudson’s Bay Foundation proudly supports MLSE Foundation’s Boys Leadership Camp and Boy Leadership Program.
• The Foundation also invests in MLSE Foundation’s education efforts through the support of the Sport and Social Justice program.

MOSAIC, one of Canada’s largest settlement non-profit organizations, provides programs and services to immigrants, refugees, and those from diverse backgrounds to help advance an inclusive and thriving Canada. MOSAIC staff and partners work together to improve communities by welcoming and supporting newcomers with employment, settlement, and language services to further their success with their new life in Canada.

Programs we support:

• Hudson’s Bay Foundation and MOSAIC have formed a multi-year partnership, with the Foundation committing funding to MOSAIC’s Combatting Institutionalized Racism: Equitable Access to Employment program.

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital and a world-leading research centre in this field. CAMH combines clinical care, research, education, policy development and health promotion to help transform the lives of people affected by mental illness and addiction. CAMH is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and is a Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization Collaborating Centre.

Programs we support: 

• Hudson’s Bay Foundation is one of the founding partners of womenmind™, a community of philanthropists and thought leaders working to tackle the unique gender issues that underrepresented people face when it comes to their mental health. 
• As part of CAMH’s commitment to mental health, Hudson’s Bay Foundation supports the Business Leaders for Mental Health Action serves as a philanthropic coalition of business leaders and companies advocating for the psychological well-being of employees.

Rainbow Railroad is a global not-for-profit organization that helps LGTBQI+ people facing persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity and sex characteristics. In a time when there are more displaced people than ever before, LGBTQI+ people are uniquely vulnerable due to systemic, state-enabled homophobia and transphobia. These factors either displace them in their own country or prevent them from escaping harm. 

Programs we support: 

• In 2022, Hudson’s Bay Foundation and Rainbow Railroad began a 3-year partnership to help provide support to the LGTBQIA+ community.
